And being completely honest, most brand-new bloggers don’t even think about ways to get more blog subscribers.
The majority of the time it’s all about getting LEADS and the thought of getting more blog subscribers is completely overlooked.
Sure getting leads is great and all and you absolutely should be striving to create content that generates leads on autopilot, but what if they don’t want to become a lead just yet but still like your content?
Wouldn’t it be nice if you gave them a way to subscribe to your blog via email that allows you to start building a long-term, sustainable traffic source?
Something that automatically notifies them via email that lets them know that there is new content for them on your blog? Sounds like a good idea… right?
Did you know that email converts 8.5x better then social media and boasts twice the Return-On-Investment (ROI) of Pay-Per-Click (PPC)?
This question was recently asked of us (Shaun & I) so we figured what better way to answer it then by creating a blog post.
The question was, “How do you get more blog subscribers?”
It’s challenging being a startup blogger especially as a network marketing blogger.
You post and post, and not much happens. Nobody appears to care enough for your amazing content enough to want to put in their email and become a subscriber to your blog.
Know how to break out of this?
First things first… before we even get into the 6 types of blog posts that get more blog subscribers, you first have to MAKE IT KNOWN that you do in fact have a blog subscription service.
It is regrettable that many new bloggers are expecting people to subscribe to their blog without ever making it known that there is a subscription option on their blog.
People barely have time and when they do come to your blog will probably just skim your content let alone look to see if you have a subscription option.
It is extremely important that you let your readers know that there is a way to subscribe to your blog and you will probably be amazed to see the results you get.
Make it easy to see as soon as they land on your blog or even go so far as telling them in your Call-To-Action (CTA) to subscribe to your blog.
How to Get More Blog Subscribers
There are specific types of blog posts that draw readers’ attention — and get them looking intently to subscribe.
They see you’ve got useful information and the last thing they want to do is miss out on more of it.
If you’re not getting comments like: “I printed this out and taped it to the wall near my computer,” or “I bookmarked this because I need to reread this each morning,” you haven’t hit this level of premium content delivery yet.
Devote yourself to writing the sort of exceptional, high-value blog posts that make you attract attention, and you’ll start to get more blog subscribers then you ever before thought imaginable.
What types of blog posts am I talking about that have a tendency to to get more blog subscribers?
Here are the top six types that have taken our blog from zero to 100+ subscribers in its four brief months of posting:
Long, Super Valuable Resource Lists
Could you craft a toolkit for readers on ways to do something they’re trying to achieve, or a list of places they could find prospects?
Not the secondhand stuff from around the Internet, but exceptional, better-organized, more deeply researched and complete information on how to do something than they can find anywhere else?
Consider a list you could create of valuable resources specific to your niche, that you haven’t been able to find online, that your readers urgently need.
Hook into their wants, needs, and desires and find information that helps them be healthier, wealthier or happier.
When you can meet these essential needs, readers will love you.
Lengthy lists tend to get a great deal of social media traffic, which inevitably results in more eyeballs on your blog, and convert more of them to subscribers, as well.
Analyze and Anticipate
We live in an ever-changing, complex world. Readers want you to help them make sense of what’s going on.
Taking it a step further, they’d want to know what’s going to happen next in your niche.
Be the one who can tell them that, and they’ll come to believe and trust you as an indispensable mastermind and hang on your every word.
Put in the time to walk your readers through what’s happening in their lives, in their niche, do the math for them, and they will surely love you for it.
Take on Some Controversy
If there’s a problematic issue people are disagreeing about in your specific niche, taking an opposing stance on it can be a terrific way to grab attention and to help establish yourself as someone who is not only a thought leader but also an authority in your niche.
Both of which are wonderful for connecting with your readers and making them feel they need to stay in touch with you to continue getting your revealing slant on current events.
Additionally, having statistics and testimonials to back up your opposing stance greatly increase the value of these types of posts.
Comprehensive How-To’s with Examples
One thing online readers are crying out for is someone to actually show them EXACTLY how to do technical things that confuse them.
Take it from the top, answering 101-type questions on the topic, like “Why Search Engine Optimization Is Important to the Success of Your Business”.
Don’t make the assumptions that your readers have a background in basic SEO (for example).
Give them screen shots and actually simplify it for them. You’ll rapidly become the go-to source for more information on your topic.
Glance Behind the Curtain
People actually love the exclusive scoop on how you are able to do that thing you do.
Most of us actually want to know exactly what you did to get your first set of leads, and exactly how you went about setting up your lead machine that turns out leads on autopilot.
That’s why income or lead reports have been a prevalent staple of blogs from early on.
Other examples are posts on a how you set up a launch or sales campaign and what type of results you actually got.
Like how-to’s, this format benefits from a multi-media approach. Get as many screen shots of that rude tweet or email you got!
Show the stats. Back up your story with all the evidence and details you can gather and create a compelling blog posts from A to Z of what you did.
It’s incredible how much people love to read, with sometimes more then called for amusement, about how someone else screwed up — specifically if the story also unboxes some valuable lessons learned on how to avoid these blunders.
I’ve been able to get huge responses to posts about how I failed to sell my first eBook, with tips on better eBook marketing, for example.
The trick to a worthy Huge Fail type post is to take it past a completely dry, boring narration of facts, and include your feelings, opinions and reactions as things went wide of the mark.
It’s almost like an instructional soap opera — except it’s in your blog post!
As soon as you get the hang of providing these types of high-value post, you can take it to the next level and begin using more than one of these ideas into a single post.
For example, you can create a detailed how-to that also offers a glance behind the curtain of exactly how you do things, or a huge-fail type post that likewise provides in-depth analysis of exactly what happened.
The days of publishing short, low-value advice and tips daily that possibly get you some attention from Google are over.
Rather, think quality, not quantity — and deliver meaningful, captivating blog posts readers won’t find anywhere else.
All of the above presumes that you are actually creating the best quality content you can. If you honestly cannot say that you are doing your best work content-wise, start there.
But afterward, using some or all of the above will definitely help you to get more blog subscribers.
