Getting into the best network marketing mindset isn’t always as easy as people make it out to be. A lot of times, it feels like so many things in your life are merely beyond your control. Each time you seem to take two steps forward, you end up taking three steps back or some unforeseen event sets you back.
When Kim and I first started to bring our business online, one of the first things we did was run Facebook ads… and from what we thought, it seemed like the right thing to do that we assumed would be easy.
A lot of people have what appears to be unbelievable success with Facebook ads, so we were thrilled to finally get them going.
We had invested about a week getting our sales funnel together – creating the perfect lead magnet, creating a respectable capture page, getting and setting up our autoresponder and email marketing campaign, and creating an assortment of ads that we hoped would convert well.
Finally came the day to turn everything on. Our ads were quickly approved, leads were starting to come in, and it felt like the success we had been waiting and praying for was finally going to happen for us.
Then, the next day happened…
BOOM! Facebook stopped running our ads and our ad account was shut down. All of the hard work we had put into this marketing strategy was flushed down the toilet.
For one reason or another, somebody at Facebook really didn’t like the ads that we were running and made a decision that the best step to take must be to permanently and irreversibly shut down and lock down our ad account. No caveat, now warning, and absolutely no second chance. Simply game over.
What was I advertising and marketing you might ask?
At the time, there’s was very little we could have done to foresee that this would take place. Our Facebook ad account getting shut down without so much as warning was clearly outside our control.
Did we take it hard? Of course we did. Initially, we panicked and freaked the hell out. We had put virtually all our eggs in one basket and now it was finished.
After that, we got heated, and stressed, and we felt like the victims. And we were caught in that rut for nearly a week. Our network marketing mindset was terrible, to say the least.
Network Marketing Mindset – We Took Responsibility and We Took Control
We recognized that we couldn’t do much about our ad account getting shut down. After all, it’s not like we owned Facebook and could dictate policy.
But instead of throwing our hands up, saying “screw network marketing,” and blaming Facebook, WE decided to take responsibility for OUR future. I mean seriously, who was Facebook to say we couldn’t have a successful business?
No matter what anyone says, does or unexpected events occur, we always have full control over the success of our business. And that’s the Network Marketing mindset you must have if you want to succeed.
Network Marketing Mindset – You Have Two Choices to Make
Any time you come across some obstacle like this in your business or in your life, you literally have two choices to make… either give up control of the circumstances and make excuses and justifications as to why you can’t achieve your goal and quit…
… OR, the better choice, you can accept responsibility for your actions, recognize that you have full control of the circumstances, and overcome that obstacle.
Network Marketing Mindset – Responsibility = Control
The more responsibility you take, the further control you have over your life.
When things start to go wrong, people with a weak network marketing mindset will start making excuses, reject responsibility for their actions, and let themselves off the hook. But doing this likewise gives up their control of the situation.
Look at it this way – if you blame somebody or something else for your situation, then your situation is past your control and YOU are simply giving up control of your current situation.
However, if you take responsibility for your circumstances, then the state of your situation is up to you and YOU have full control over your situation.
And the more control you have over your life and the success of your business, the more freedom you have. And when you are free, there are no limits to what you can succeed at.
Network Marketing Mindset – A Few Things to Remember
When it rains, it rains on everybody. What countless people fail to understand (or choose not to recognize) is that most of us have to deal with the very same circumstances in life.
Moreover, despite how challenging your situation is, I can almost guarantee that there is somebody out there who started with far less who was able to achieve more.
If I were to sit here and whine that I can’t be achieve success in Network Marketing due to the fact that Facebook shut down our ad account, it would be like a football game where the losing team blamed their loss on a pumped up football (Colts vs. Patriots) – no matter how much the ball was deflated, a 45 points to 7 points is in no way related to a deflated football.
One of my good friends in the industry pointed this out to me which was that practically every top leader he knows has had their Facebook ad account shut down. So I guess you could say, we are in good company.
When you come across obstacles, setbacks, and difficult situations in your business, you are more than likely experiencing what every other Network Marketer has had to go through… and the only difference between the top earners and YOU is your Network Marketing mindset.
So the choice you have to make is whether you’re going to take responsibility and control of your circumstances, or whether you’re going to make excuses, give up control, and ultimately quit.
The choice is entirely up to you…?
Among the best things about making mistakes is that you learn from them. And the amazing thing about learning from your mistakes is that you can then show and teach others how to prevent them!
