So where can you find them? Well, free MLM Leads are literally everywhere. At the mall, at the gas station, the post office, grocery store, in the phone book, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, and the list goes on and on.
I remember a big ah-ha moment for me when I heard Eric Worre say, “Prospects are not a natural resource that you eventually run out of. Rather, finding people to talk to is a skill that you develop.”
To put it simply, it’s not an issue of finding where these free MLM leads are, but rather a matter of developing the skill sets you need to get their contact information and then follow up with them.
The Best Offline, Free MLM Leads
If I was asked to rank the best places to find offline leads, it would be…
- Warm market and referrals from your warm market
- Networking events, classes, groups, and clubs – places where like-minded people gather to meet, network, and socialize
- Professionals – realtors, mortgage brokers, financial planners, car sales professionals, furniture sales people, etc.
Side note: In the past, MLMers were told to talk to everyone who stood within 3-feet of you or place ads in the classified.
While this isn’t bad, it’s less effective than going to the source. The people standing near you or reading the paper may not want or need what you’ve got. If you sell health and wellness products, talking to people in a gym or writing a guest post on a fitness blog are better options. If you sell jewelry, visiting office buildings the first weeks of February to help men by gifts for their Valentine’s is another option.
The Best Online, Free MLM Leads
If you want to generate free MLM leads online, you need to find places where people socialize online. Social media is an obvious place to go – Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, etc.
However, there are a couple of rules to follow when looking for MLM leads;
Facebook – You can search Facebook for groups focused on everything from nutrition to stay-at-home moms. The rule here is to be in the group as a member of the community first and a network marketer second. You must make real connections and be interested in people before inviting – or it won’t work. LinkedIn – Similar to Facebook, you may find groups focused on a topic related to your business – such as health professionals or entrepreneurs. Get involved in the group first and then start to make connections. Build rapport and a relationship. Don’t send blind InMails (LinkedIn’s messaging system) or ask people to join your network without getting to know something about them first. Also, always look for a shared connection. LinkedIn has some great tools for getting introduced and networking however, there are also some simple Do’s and Don’ts for LinkedIn that you should follow.
Twitter – It’s often called an online cocktail party, but if you look beyond the self-promotion and use Twitter in the interest of helping others, you may find some quality prospects. You likewise have online forums and the comments section of blogs that you can go to in order to meet new people.
Turning a Prospect into a Lead
So this is the part that requires some skill.
First and foremost, you DO NOT want to immediately pitch your business on social media or anyone and everyone you meet. It doesn’t matter whether it’s offline or online. The LAST thing anyone wants is to be pitched on something.
Network Marketing is a relationship business. People buy and join people that they know, like, and trust.
So it’s not only necessary but also important to generate trust and rapport with someone before you even consider presenting them with your business opportunity.
Getting Free MLM Leads Online
While tweeting, “Join my team,” won’t likely produce results, if you’re clever, you can use social media to generate leads. For example, if you sell weight loss products, you can have before and after pictures on Pinterest. If you sell make-up, you can have tutorials on YouTube.
What you want to do is find like-minded people and start a dialogue with them. For example, join Facebook groups where like-minded people gather and discuss things… the key to leveraging the social networks is, it’s less about lead generating but rather more about friend generation.
When someone makes a post or comment that you like, send them a direct message and tell them. Some people respond, others don’t. Work with the ones who respond and build up some trust and rapport.
If they seem like they might be a good fit with your opportunity, then go ahead and see if they’re open to taking a look.
However, through your dialogue, you will find that some people are just not a good fit, and that’s ok. Don’t feel like you have to present your opportunity to everyone.
The Absolute Best Way to Generate FREE MLM Leads – Create Your Own Website
You’ll need to check your MLM Company’s policies about websites. Many companies offer websites. Others allow you to make your own, but others don’t.
If you can, make your own because you want to differentiate yourself from not only your competitors but your MLM Company’s brand. Brand YOU!!
If you’re not allowed to make a website directly about your business, make one covering a topic related to your business. For example, if you sell health and wellness products but can’t have a self-made business site, start a health wellness blog.
Your website should include information about you and your company, but again in the slant that shows how you can help others get what they need.
