From where I sit on my camouflaged recliner, drinking a beer, and writing this blog post for YOU, creating quality content is extremely valuable to any new online network marketing (MLM) brand.
- Content is the glue that connects your audience to your business.
- It helps establish relationships and engagement with your customers.
- It helps to build your brand and message.
- It is a subtle approach to marketing which is one of the biggest reasons why it is so effective.
- Your audience is not even aware that THEY are the target of your marketing efforts.
- In fact, they believe that they are just another person engaging in content to learn more about a product or service upon their own free will. Which is essentially true.
- Via quality content marketing (and a little SEO work), YOUR target market is seeking you out.
Though content marketing is ensuring that your audience actually finds what they are looking for, enjoys it, and will continue to hold their interest in the future. #Bookmark
Quality content marketing allows your business to take on a life of its own; it creates a personality (YOUR Brand). And personalities are what consumers latch on to and can communicate with.
People will talk about a personality, but are more reluctant to talk or share something about a business opportunity.
Here’s the deal: If you’re really doing quality content marketing well, you will see results. But probably not right away.
So let’s talk about why this is so.
Why Quality Content Marketing Works
Quality content is an effective tool in any kind of marketing strategy that, when used together with various other tools, can:
- Raise awareness of your business
- Enhance your position as an authoritative thought leader
- Help define your brand and unique value proposition
- Establish and nurture connections with present and prospective customers
- Increase your bottom-line sales
But it can be challenging to know, specifically when you’re just beginning, whether your content is having a real impact. So here are a few questions to ask yourself early in the progression:
What’s the purpose of your content?
Keep in mind that good content is identified by how well it meets the needs of your audience.
I understand that you may be drawn to draft content that satisfies your needs, however the most shared mistake that raw content marketers make is permitting their content to be too sales-y, or assuming that specific pieces of content will possibly lead directly to a transaction.
That may seem like a way to shorten the time it takes your content to work, yet in actuality it will cause more frustration then good.
People are reading your content to obtain information and insight, but they don’t want to hear a sales pitch until they’re completely ready to buy, and then they will be ok hearing it from a live human or clicking the button to check out your product or services.
People are rarely in that category when they’re still in the research stage. That’s why content that seems too self-serving will frequently backfire.
So you need your content to inform, educate, and engage your audience.
You’ll benefit from being the person whose content is truly interesting and useful, so that when those readers are ready to take the next step in the sales process, you’ll be amongst the list of people they reach out to.
Bottom-line make sure you are posting on purpose.
That may be next week, next month, or even the following year.
Are you prepared to play the quality content long-game?
For content marketing to work for your business, you need to recognize that your job is to educate and engage with your readers, period.
And in order to do this successfully, you need to carefully grow your audience base by; prudently researching what your readers want to know, vigorously editing to ensure you’re posting quality content, search engine optimizing (SEO) every blog post you write, utilizing social media, email newsletters, and more.
If it takes time and patience for Top Earning network marketing professionals to build audience, and it does, surely you can and should expect to be likewise challenged, especially since content development may not be your area of expertise nor your primary occupation or full-time job.
Growing and preserving an audience takes talent, consistency, and time because it’s a relationship-building process that is done overtime.
Quality connections are nurtured, generally over weeks, months, and possibly even a year or more.
But here’s some good news for you.
You have an advantage over the competition, because you’re an expert in a subject that (in most cases) isn’t getting much attention elsewhere since it’s unique to your industry.
And you don’t need to build a very large audience, necessarily; you need to build the best audience.
There are people who need to know about the things you’re an expert in, but, dependent on your industry, there aren’t always a lot of places to acquire that quality information, so that’s where you have the advantage.
Be engaging and deliver really good quality content for that niche audience on a consistent basis, and they will be yours. A bunch of raving lunatic fans all your own.
Are you paying attention to metrics without becoming obsessed with them?
You can and need to measure numbers like page views on your website, website traffic to your blog and other content areas, as well as the number of people completing your Contact Us form or signing up for your Newsletter.
You should want positive growth with those metrics over time. But you might not see big surges in the beginning dependent on how you’re sharing or promoting your content.
You likewise might see short-term declines from time to time.
Don’t panic with those.
Every piece of content you create isn’t going to appeal to every member of your audience and that’s perfectly normal.
Just remember, an article that engages a smaller number of your current audience may still have been a great piece of content that those readers appreciated and may appeal new readers as they continue to come in overtime.
How much quality content can you produce?
I’m a quality-over-quantity type of guy, but the reality is that if you’re not producing quality content often enough for your audience to remember you, then – spoiler alert – they won’t remember you.
Start with a plan, and based on that, determine what — and how frequently — you will publish that content.
That might mean two original blog posts per month plus an email newsletter, or regular case studies, or maybe eBooks.
The kind of content and regularity will rely on exactly what you are trying to achieve, and the resources you have to create it.
But the more quality content you are able to deliver, the faster you’ll see the results you are wanting.
So, with all that said, how patient should you be with your content marketing?
Although every persons situation is unique, my viewpoint is that you need to give yourself no less than six months of regular quality content publishing before you can make a telling assessment of your performance.
Sorry if that isn’t what you were hoping for.
But once you cross that plateau, you’ll find that your content creation strategy gets easier, and that your audience will certainly grow, and you’ll really have some data on which to base an assessment.
