- Join more groups
While these may not be inefficient means of reaching some people, they are not one of the most efficient ways to leverage your time and marketing efforts.

Smart marketing is creating quality content that will work for you overtime.
The appeal of this business model (and the challenge for several when they start) is that it is not a prearrangement of trading time for money.
I.E. you show up, work for 8 hours, make $20/hour, and take home $160.
No. That’s a standard J.O.B. that is paying your for your time.
When you first started your business, you might have worked 50 or maybe 100 hours and possibly earned $250 due to the fact that you are earning while you were learning and there is a sharp learning curve.
Accept it. Don’t stop!
HOWEVER the beauty of this business model, is that overtime your skill sets develop, you get more experienced, your self-confidence increases, and your team grows, you actually learn how to build both sides of your business (your customer base as well as your downline) and it grows into a real residual income business where you are earning off your hard work + the hard work of many.
Quit Trading Your Time for Money
Like the common saying, “I’d rather earn 1% off of 100 people’s effort than 100% of my own effort.” This is crucial to success with your business.
So exactly what does that have to do with marketing? Absolutely Everything!
When we are making phone calls, hosting home meetings, messaging friends on Facebook, or possibly attending networking events, we are in fact trading our personal time for money.
And there is a limitation to our own time.
Obviously, there is undeniably a purpose to networking, after all we are in fact in a people first business, so there is no way we can get out of this networking thing 100%, nor should we… right?
I mean, speaking with people, engaging in discussions with people and forums, helping people get over their struggles, are all some of the many reasons WHY I love this business.
Yet, I would equally love to have some part of my lead generation system working for me without seriously challenging my personal time.
Hence, SMART Marketing.
As Ray Higdon stated at a recent Top Earner Marketing Bootcamp, “If you have to rely on finding new people to talk to that are intellectually lazy or if people aren’t reaching out to talk to YOU, YOU have not marketed yourself properly.”
What Marketing Is Not
If people are not reaching out to you repeatedly asking what you’re doing, perhaps this is why…
Marketing is not plastering your MLM Business name all over Facebook.
Marketing is not asking people to vote on which purse color they like better purple or pink.
Marketing is not simply getting yourself out there telling people to message you if they want to learn how to make $150 just by ___________ (fill in the blank).
And most importantly, Marketing is not selling.
What Is Marketing
If people are in fact reaching out to you on a regular basis this is most likely why…
Marketing IS telling a story. Your story to be more specific. It’s giving people the opportunity to connect with you and learn to know, like and trust you.
Marketing IS providing value to others whether they buy something from you or not.
